Post Bristol Blast 4 on 5th November  Reply with quote
Hello Guys,

Welcome to Bristol Blast 4.  This will be the last outdoor event we will host this year, what with the dreadful British weather and seasonal festivities around the corner.  We will be bringing you more events in the new year.

After the debacle of Bristol Blast 3, we have been kindly offered the use of the Chapel in Downend again, and we graciously accepted for Bristol Blast 4 (free venue is free...).  We will be compiling a list of local alternatives should the worst happen - but most options will be weather permitting.

Anyway, onto the details of Bristol Blast 4... like last time we will have a registration point where everyone must register upon arrival (exact location to be confirmed).  Upon registration you will need to pay your entry fee, and you will be branded with some coloured tape to identify which team you belong to (this will make separating out for team games much easier, and will also identify anyone who hasn't registered).

Anyone who hasn't registered and is onsite, please do not be offended if you are approached by one of us - whilst this is a public-ish event, it is on private grounds and there will likely be children in attendance, so safety is paramount.

VENUE:
Church of JC of Latter Day Saints, Downend Road, Bristol BS16 5EF

ENTRY FEE:
£3 or 50 KOOSH Darts per Person

TIME & DATE:
Start Time 1230 to 1700 (5PM for those not running on the 24hr clock)
Saturday 5th of November
Registration between 1230 and 1250.
Safety briefing 1250.
Foam flinging awesomeness to begin at 1300 (1PM)
There will be a break around 1500 (3PM)

RULES:
130 fps cap on blasters
EYE PROTECTION MANDATORY
no smoking on site
no alcohol
no swearing

IMPORTANT RULE - Minimum age is 8 years old, all under 16's need to be accompanied by a responsible adult... if you want to attend and are under 16 you must have someone onsite.

Looking forward to seeing you there Zenif (and sprogs).

That's a shame Franksie, I realise it's Bonfire Night so it may be that not everyone can attend.  But free venue is free, and hopefully it won't be too cold and still be a little bit not too wet.

On the weather front, because it is likely to have been raining at some point we will likely be limiting play to the car park and indoors, so as not to traipse mud throughout the building.

For those travelling by car, please park next to some of the cars that will already be on site - that way we can maximise the play area, and not damage anyone's car whilst playing.

Be good to see you Boff, if you can make it.

Welsh Mullet. It would be great if you could make it. Public transport will be a b*tch to use... combo of many buses and trains I imagine.  L11 and I are travelling from Newport.  I'm sure between us we will have space for you... a small contribution towards petrol/bridge would be appreciated (and cheaper than public transport too!).  We'll likely be leaving sometime around 1100 as event organisers we will be turning up early.  PM me to arrange the details if you are interested.

Woo! More walls of darts to take cover from... Razz I might have to bring the shield if this keeps up. I suppose I could learn reloading drills with that in one hand and the Stryfe in the other.

I'll look at re-specing my RS to make it not suck like it did at BB3. Needs a complete rewire, me thinks - no more test looms. Very Happy I should actually get some Worker wheels in there with the Hellcats.

Cool, I've PM'd you NewportNerfer.

Just to get prepared for this then, I've only got stock blasters, am I going to be massively out gunned?
And eye protection, any particular type, or are standard safety goggles fine?

You won't be out gunned, there will be a few people with stock blasters there. Standard protective goggles will be fine aswell.

I love the prep for a war!

If you are struggling for eyewear standard safety specs from B&Q or Wickes will be fine. Or sunglasses. Or glasses. And as L11 said  stocks not going to be a problem. It's likely to be close quarters any way.  There will be some modded stuff in use. But hopefully that will just make you want to mod 😀

Last time I modded, it involved putting pennies behind the spring!

I've ordered some safety glasses, and I'm trying to locate my mag holders, but I might pick up a light chest rig.

There was some talk last time of using megas for more gameplay options. Also my daughter is keen to bring along her Rebelle bow and arrows Rolling Eyes. Would it be worthwhile chucking them in the boot for one of the rounds?

Bring allong what ever you want 😀, we only have Koosh in the pool though so if you need specific ammo you will need to bring it.

Us organisers have had a chat about trying to get a few mega rounds in the pool.

Are there any special rules around ammo for this game, or is a tag a tag?

Just want to know what to pack

No need to bring ammo if you have blasters that fire standard Nerf darts.  If you have special blasters that fire special ammo, you'll need to bring your own.

All standard darts will be supplied at the event (unless you plan on paying your entry fee with Koosh), then you just need to bring your blasters and your entry fee (and food and water - we're not feeding everyone Smile).

It doesn't. It's Bristol Blast 4 on the 5th November.  I'll edit the post to make it clearer.

Is this still happening, right? The thread is very quiet so I needed to ask.
