Post RE: Artifact cage alignment problem  Reply with quote
Greetings BritNerf,

I am having some accuracy issues with my stryfe, a few shots will fly straight but every once in a while a shot will head left significantly.

My internals are:
Blackpig 2S motors
Worker flywheels
Artifact Red Cage
Standard rewire

Had a quick browse through the forums and reddit; which has lead me to believe that it is my cage being misaligned. And has been confirmed as seen in the image below. It is too far too right compared to the dart in the magazine.

However I am unsure on how to fix this, any advice?

Cheers.

The simple way would be to add some height to the posts that it screws into- little spacers would be the least permanent and easiest way but you could build them up with plastic or epoxy or similar.

How much play do you have in the clip? Some blasters can be pretty loose- I've added a little foam to some of mine to stabilise it all, that could also be used to change the location of the clip in relation to the cage

Also what tolerances were used in the build? We have flywheels +/-0.05g and +/-0.05mm for the flywheels then they are centred on the motor shafts to +/-0.1mm.
I agree your alignment is significantly out. I would, as Northwind has suggested, start by looking at magazine alignment and shim the cage a tiny bit. Do all your mags sit in that position?

Not much, I can just about push the magazine whilst in the blaster into the correct position; keeping an eye on the dart position through the jam door. It was shooting much better. Will see if I can find some washers to shift the cage.

Yes, all the mags seem to be slightly left of the cage. Though some less so than others.

When I first assembled this blaster I didn't do any matching of the flywheels or checking measurements. All of it was done by eye, which is probably not the best way. I am planning on getting some hooligan wheels and will try to match them. Will get your measurements in mind when I swap them out.

From the look of all the reviews, because of the precision used by the people who made them, matching won't be necessary with hooligans.
