Hypothesis:
Worker spring will result in darts travelling at more feet per second (FPS) than stock spring, possibly in a similar range to spring combinations. The Worker and Havokfire main spring combination will have the highest mean FPS.

Method:
1. Hammershot Worker spring, Hammershot stock spring, stock+ Havokfire main springs, worker+havokfire main springs tested with Prochrono in that order using yellow gen 3 koosh darts.
2. 52 readings taken for each spring dataset,  highest and lowest readings removed, remainder formed sample for mean calculation. One extra reading crept into Havokfire and worker dataset and was included in the mean calculations.

Results:
Stock mean: 57.7 FPS
Worker mean: 62.1 FPS
Worker + Havokfire: 65.5 FPS
Stock + Havokfire: 67.5 FPS

Analysis:
The stock spring alone offered the lowest FPS value. The Worker spring propelled darts, on average, at a higher rate. The stock and Havokfire main spring combination offered the greatest FPS value over the chronograph.

Limitations:
The same darts and blaster were used throughout the investigation, therefore, dart deterioration and blaster wear could have had an effect on the results of later spring tests. Secondly, there was variation in the blaster's position in relation to the Prochrono at time of firing, resulting in variability in the path of darts over the chrono and possibly different FPS readings. Additionally, temperature fluctuation caused by thermostat operated central heating may have resulted in expansion or contraction of metal springs. Finally, the air present in the path of the darts will have resulted in further variation. It should have been done in a vacuum because scientists like pretty much everything to be done in a vacuum.

Evaluation:
It may be assumed that the mean FPS values of darts moving quickly, having been fired from a certain blaster with a certain spring, over a chronograph will relate to their FPS value when fired from a similar blaster at either an "enemy" during a game involving such darts, a zombie or your child. Therefore, the resultant FPS values obtained in this investigation may be assumed to reflect a blaster's effectiveness in any of the above situations, provided they occur in a medium with a similar viscosity to the combination of gases in which this investigation took place. This need not be the same medium, as long as it offers the same resistance to the koosh-shaped head of the dart and does not react with the dart, so as to prevent it from altering its constitution so at to render it useless as a projectile. Further investigations should take place to ascertain which media are appropriate for filling venues usually devoid of such a medium to enable similar performance to occur, unless the assumption is made that absence of any medium will only result in a slight increase in FPS which will not hinder desired function.

This research will be useful for owners of Hammershots who have Havokfire (or Vulcans) blasters which can donate springs. Whilst slightly more complicated than inserting one spring, the benefits of combining stock and Havokfire springs in terms of increased FPS are clear. It's still probably still better to just get a beefier single spring if you're not a tight-posteriored individual like the present researcher and author.

I dedicate this work to the Cookie Dough Ice Cream consumed whilst undertaking the study. May you live on and be with me till I've digested you and it's time to leave.

If all that's a bit too much, here's an even worse Youtube video about it:
