I blame UKNW for taking the office's Rebelle virginity and imposing this horror of a blaster on us. In the spirit of science, put it over the chronograph. Here are the results.

EDIT: My analysis of the 4V itself and certain concerns I have for Hasbro are over on the blog now.

While your concerns are valid Boff, I don't see Mattel overtaking Hasbro for years, if ever. I think Hasbro has slacked off on the advertising and product design a bit in preparation for a huge advertising blitz this fall for RIVAL and the new Elite and Zombiestrike lines.

It reeks of "project drive" (the cost saving exercise implemented at Rover in the years before it's collapse where staff were given bonuses to find ways to make the construction of the cars cheaper). This started out fine, taking away things you'd never notice and modifying things to make construction and assembly faster and cheaper, but it ended up with them leaving off what used to be standard features, and even certain trim pieces and badges, in an effort to cut costs wherever possible. Obviously Hasbro is in a stronger position than Rover was at the time but cheaping out to that extent can't be good for business especially if you're trying to pass your products off as high quality. I don't think Hasbro will be overtaken by Mattel because of this but they may lose a noticeable amount of market share if Mattel can keep improving their product line at the rate they are doing.

I can definitely see aspects of that SSGT. I'm still cautiously optimistic that the Hasbro we know and love will be back with all the big releases this fall.

Personally, I love the rebelle line...

I'm a father of 4 (soon to be 5), ranging from 15 to 6. 1 boy, 3 girls. My son has very little interest in it, but is happy with his triad. My eldest is really into it, the agent bow and guardian crossbow are hers alone, while the younger girls have the starshot and knockout sets due to them having targets.

While I don't stop them playing with any of the blasters I have, across the yellow nstrike range, blue elite range, zombie strike, or rebelle range, and play with them they do, my office floor gets littered in darts at the weekend, if asked what blaster they'd like to buy, you'll get told one from the rebelle range.

When I look at them in terms of in hand feel, it's obvious they are scaled for the smaller hands of a youngster. I think that really does not come into the opinions of reviewers... they are grown men who have never been an nine year old girl brought up watching MI High, Sarah Jane Adventures etc...

In terms of performance/features, stuff like the 4 victory is brilliant. You've got the one handed operation of the hammershot, with the smart ar system of a triad/roughcut, in a sleak blaster, that fits into a pocket or the provided holster. Across the ones we have they often out perform their elite equivalent.

The agent bow is awesome, difficult to master, but really satisfying when the arrows whistle off. The guardian crossbow is an easy to pump shotgun that fires as well as my strongarms, the heartbreaker bow is a novel firing system, and the starshot and knockout are rebodied firestrike and jolt respectively.

As for mattel... The BOOMCO stuff is hideous, bright primary colours makes it look like a baby toy, and the boxes seem to lack any 'oomph'... compare them to something like the rebelle line which are covered in smiling girls in action poses, the boomco boxes are plain white and boring.
