Grim Up Nerf 16 - April

Spring has sprung! Let's see if it can rev too...

More of the superb games you've come to expect at Grim Up Nerf, with the first session suitable for everyone, including families, and a second session of tactical and tacticool 13+ gaming.

We're at the same Farlsey venue, but with some new venue rules, which will be explained first. Grass and flowerbeds are now officially mined, so don't go one them unless you want an instadeath! Basically, we want to avoid harming innocent daffodils and marching mud into the chapel during the event! There are one or two other things as well, but nothing which will stop us from having another great GuN as we always do.

Thanks again to the Farsley Ward of the LDS church for the use of their building! We're going to run through one or two things before the start of play to make sure we keep our relationship sweet.

Date and Time
Saturday 8th April 12:30 - 16:00 †

Location
The war will be located at the Church of the Latter-Day Saints chapel in Farsley

Cost
Grim Up Nerf is free to attend, but all attendees are invited to contribute the princely sum of £1 towards darts, materials etc so that we can keep doing it!

Loaner Blasters
Please note - there may be a selection of front-loading springer blasters at the event - it all depends on what we can arrange. After signing in, you will be directed into the main hall where you will be helped to choose a suitable blaster.

Games
Game rules will be explained before each round.

Age Restrictions
To keep Grim Up Nerf an accessible to all community, we have a recommended minimum age for players of 8 years old. We have found that kids under this age can struggle to prime a blaster, don't fully understand our rules, and have a lower pain threshold. It is at a parents discretion if they want a 6 or 7 year old to play.
Allplayers under 16 years old need a parent to remain on the site throughout the event, and 16 to 18 year old need a permission form signed by their parents.

Safety and Behaviour
1 - We expect blasters to be in original or brightly coloured schemes, with an orange tip. I.e. nothing to alarm the locals or other building users. We wonít be slowing down to assess performance so if youíre primary is modded and there is any chance it might be judged as over powered make sure you have a backup on hand.
2 - We will be providing ALL Koosh/Elite darts to be used at the event. If your blaster requires a different dart type, such as discs, mega darts, or missiles, you are expected to provide these yourself. No FVJ's are allowed.
3 - Eye protection is required and some will be provided, glasses users do so at their own risk.
4 - Anyone under 18 requires parental permission, and under 16's require a chaperone. Consider it an excuse to get your dad or mum playing.
5 - Between games you are expected to help recover and reload darts. Weapons must be holstered, slung, or placed on tables in an unloaded state between games.
6 - If it's not your's, don't touch it without asking
7 - Any abusive, threatening or rascist behaviour won't be tolerated.
8 - By attending, we consider this acceptance of the above rules, and your acknowledgement that Nerfing is not without risk, and that you are playing under your own will, and will not hold anyone else liable for any injuries that occur.
9 - No smoking, drug taking, drinking, or swearing on the chapel premises.
10 - And above all else, it's only a game, have fun, and donít be a silly billy!‎
11 - Respect the venue!

There's a chance I'll make it down for this - watch this space Wink

Myself and TBR will be in attendance ( possibly with +2 ) also if the postman arrives in time I will have another 200 waffle tips with me to contribute to the bottomless pool!!.
See you then....
Justajolt

I almost thought your "l" in pool was another "!" and I wondered what was going on...
Mr.Crane

Count me in! (As usual Razz )
Minky

Me and my daughter should be able to get to this one! Woo!
old_man_nerf

Just working on the plan of action. Any game preferences to consider?

Last game of the afternoon is designed to help empty magazines - we don't want anyone finishing with darts to spare  Very Happy

And HvZ is back in the mix after it's accidental omission last month....
bigal123

Looks like I might make this with the rest of the crew. Should be staying over Friday night so will be able to head over early if you need a hand to set up anything.
tbr

I always enjoy a good game of Terminator, fun being able to fire off rounds without having to worry about being hit.
bigal123

Whats the rival pool like? Really want to bring my Apollo for a run out, didnt have room in my case to take it to Bristol Blast. I can also bring a dart donation of 200 wafflely tipped goodness.
old_man_nerf

The ball pool is small compared to the dart pool, but big enough for everyone who has brought a rival blaster along so far too have paddle in it.

That's a round about way of saying we have a couple of hundred ballz....
FDT

Shall I bring the FDT riot shields? No problem either way...
old_man_nerf

Thank you for the offer but as we are 'on probation' regarding looking after the building we are using I'm going to say no thanks this month. Anything we can do to reduce the chances of the property being bumped/scraped/damaged has to be taken, and those riot shields are pretty heavy!
FDT

Oh good call then! And saves me bringing them so good news 😉
TimeToReap

Never been to one of these.
Love to try...
We may bring our own guns, right? And any gun as long as it's not painted?
old_man_nerf

Bring all your own stuff - just make sure it's well marked so you take it all home again.

Because we are on private property technically you can turn up with a completely black gun and be ok - however we may then judge on lack of originality and artistic merit Smile

More colourful painted blasters are always welcome.

Are Modded Blasters allowed?
Are any other blasters to allowed?

EDIT

While I appreciate your enthusiasm, most of these questions will be answered in the OP. Oh and please don't use quotes longer than your reply. Thanks -Bof

POST MERGE:

Is the minimum age 13 or 8?
And don't just put one of those 'your question is answered in the main post' as it says 13+ in second paragraph and 8+ in age restrictions

EDIT

Your question /is/ answered in the OP. If you read the original paragraph properly, it says the first session is open to all and then a second session open to 13+. The 'open to all' statement is then further qualified down in the 'Age Restrictions ' section.

Backseat moderating isn't permitted, either. If I need to put a red box to enforce the rules, I will do. Backseat moderating even your own posts isn't permitted. Smile

Oh and don't double post. Edit your previous post. -Boff

PS: Welcome to the forum, you'll have a red box free time if you go and remind yourself of the Code of Conduct and take time to read posts fully before hitting 'reply'.

Taemu_touhi

From what I understand from the OP,

The minimum age is 8.
There is a second session that is restricted to 13+ only.
Dazzle740

As already stated there is two different age restrictions for all GuN's. The first session of games is for 8+although I have seen younger, they really aren't too strict as it's about all getting together and having fun flinging some foam.
The second session is for the older group so the age restriction of 13+ has been put on this because these games is when the more powerful blasters that some have come out to play.
But either way come along and join in.

Though it might be worth chilling out a bit!! throwing statements like in your second post isn't going to make you many friends within this very friendly forum.
Minky

Hey guys, what times do the two sessions run-ish?
I will likely have my 8 year old daughter as back up so will hit the first session and maybe the first game of the 2nd dependant on how long they are and then bug out.  So just wondering about my likely set off home time.
FDT

Hotel booked - looking forward to my first GuN Smile
Dazzle740

Minky

First session is usually 12 - 3pm ish then 3 - 4/4:30pm ish for the second 13+ session. But the times aren't set in stone but just turn up when you can and enjoy, as I rarely get there before 12:30 ish.
Minky

Nice one. Cheers mate

Anyone coming down from Durham way, by the way?
