Firestike Elite

OK so its a Sunday afternoon and i got bored, so as I'm starting to mod some blasters in the next few weeks i thought i would practice on my Firestike, its cheap and easy to replace so its the perfect thing, so after watching a video on YouTube i decided to remove the Dart rod and the air restrictor, after doing this i put it all back together again and it didn't work, i placed some tape over one of the air holes put it back together AGAIN it then started to work, but there isn't a noticeable amount of difference in the performance like doing this mod said it would, any ideas? these are the parts i am left with below

You need to either compress the spring, add a spring or completely replace it.
The latter is the best option.

Take a peek at Blastersmiths for a firestrike spring.

This is a cautionary tale about "mod guides." We have a very sensible way of determining if a guide is worth following. Generally if it has real performance figures for before and after, preferably a decent sample size with a stated dart type, then it's worth looking at. If it's someone saying "it now shoots really far" whilst firing it on shaky cam in their garden, it's generally crap.
I would add putting a short 17/32 or 9/16 brass barrel on when you change the spring, that will make much better use of the added power. 17/32 is a bit tighter, both sizes should be about 15cm long max with the regular mod Spring.

From what I can see on Blastersmiths UK website the 5kg Elite Spring is incompatible.  OMW have some compatible springs, but are US based and have mixed reviews across nearly all forums I have been on.

I have had a look through the mod guides on NerfHaven for both a Nitefinder and a Firestrike, both blasters are listed as using the same upgrade spring, so it is possible the nitefinder spring from blastersmiths will fit in the firestrike.  Note:  I have not tested if the two blasters do use the same spring as I do not own a nitefinder at the moment.

Actually our Sidestrike spring will fit the Firestrike quite happily. You just need to work on how to get it on. Smile

Oh and try to keep quotes small - if they're longer than your reply then you're doing it wrong - Boff

You can just twist it on but it takes some working. Personally, I just cut the ring pull off and then re-glued it back down but that's because I've got a pillar drill so I drop bolts in to support it. Smile

OK well i don't think I'm confident enough to start cutting things off and gluing things back on but i suppose I'm only doing this on a Firestrike...

EDIT

Quote of 3 lines, new info of 2 lines. Please pay attention to the reminder above about quoting. ON

If you're not bothered about looks and just want better range, upgrade catch spring and wrap some rubber bands round it. Noticeable difference.
