Post Rainbow, +Bow Etc Materials Thread  Reply with quote
Here is a list of other homemade materials for designs such as the Plusbow, Rainbow or others that use polycarbonate pieces.

Plunger Tubes
Plusbow 36mm ID, 38mm OD ( 40 x 36 is the closest size.
Polycarbonate
Clear PVC
-The Clear PVC appears to be more expensive, but It's not, you just have to buy in bulk. Also all people will use Polycarbonate plunger tubes for +Bows, although there is nothing wrong with PVC.

Rainbow 32mm ID, 36mm OD
Polycarbonate
There isn't a Clear PVC equivalent to this, go figure.
PVC (Opaque)
-Polycarbonate will work well for these as you can see where your drilling although with measurements opaque will work as well.

Plunger Rods

10mm (3/8")
Acetal (Delrin)
Nylon
Polycarbonate
PVC
HDPE
-Delrin is the best plunger rod material, it's strong and cheap in this case! Polycarbonate is second best, followed by HDPE and Nylon, although Nylon can be a pain to machine, finally followed by PVC.

12mm (1/2")
Acetal (Delrin)
Nylon
Polycarbonate
HDPE
-Same principle  as earlier, except PVC isn't stocked in this size.

Polycarbonate
6mm (1/4")
eBay
Plastock
-Whilst the prices are comparable, the eBay provider is cheaper, you get a more reasonable amount and it has free shipping!

Bushings
PVC 'Rainbow' Bushing
HDPE/Nylon '+Bow' Bushing
-The ' Rainbow' bushing is pretty standard, I can lathe you bushing with your needed specs e.g The +Bow bushing. Obviously Nylon and HDPE are better than PVC.

Misc Parts
O-Rings
Plunger Heads
1/2" PVC
K26
- Store bought parts are self explanatory, I will be selling K26's and custom plunger heads in my sales thread for you guys.

Hope this is helpful, I'll update it when needed.

To expand on that, Plunger heads for homemades are impossible to make using UK materials that are the same as our American friends because we do not have these materials, so I lathe them.
I'll update my sales thread now.

Didn't see any mention of them in the sales thread, but that makes more sense now, thanks. I may have to get some of those at some point.  Smile
