Post Artifact vs OMW Sealed Breech Shootout  Reply with quote
Both on 5kg springs, brand new darts, the OMW is on Koosh, the Artifact on their darts. Both darts weigh an average of 1.1g
I had some issues with magazine fit, this is my initial test data, I intend to do another shoot to see if tweaking helps and use a different mag.

RESULTS ARE HERE

Just a question, I know my OMW S3 can fire the xplorer darts through them....so have you tired firing the Artifact darts through it just to compare? maybe a pointless test...as that data already shows great results from the OMW breach.

2 confounding factors. The first, the OMW S3 breach is out of commission and not available publicly. That renders the data not invalid but hardly the most useful set in the world. The second, muzzle velocity isn't everything when the length of darts is considered. The shorter darts primary selling point is, supposedly, better accuracy. Based on the fact the darts are closely matched in mass demonstrates that there is a different amount of muzzle energy being applied but range and accuracy would tell a more complete story.

It's very likely that these tests will need to be redone to resolve the magazine alignment issues that ON has identified with the Artefact system. Once we have those, we can trial them against a real world equivalent like a Retaliator with uprated spring and nothing else. That'd be the useful data. Smile

ah right, fair enough. Just a query more than anything else. I am not much of a data man myself, I like to see and test things in a, as you say real world situation, but still I just unsure about the artefact system it just looks like it should't work.... (in my head)  Smile

I am planning an accuracy test but there's a half dismantled Audi estate car in the "firing range" right now.
Artifact darts wouldn't load into the S3 breech. They fouled the dart gate completely, due to their crappy pointed tips.
Boff- getting the Artifact set up to reliably shoot was a problem, let alone shoot where it's pointed. The OMW S3 was the only other production sealed breech available anywhere for a comparable price to the Artifact one, hence my choice.

Wow, that omw data is almost a flat line, i'm not used to seeing a Nerf item that's so consistent!
The artefact data is all over the place! What happened on the 27 fps shot?

The dart was pooped out the barrel because it didn't load cleanly. I always do these tests the same, I get the kit, check it, then put it in according to the suppliers recommended fitting guide, then shoot it over the chrono. There's no alterations allowed in the test, unless it completely breaks. That way you guys can see how likely something is to work out the box.

And I appreciate the way you test. I have a retaliator sat in the garage that I was pondering getting an Artefact breach for, and I know Old_man_nerf was considering one, but with those numbers, nope...
